| 3. | Why doesn’t UjimaCare provide assistance within the United States? |
| While UjimaCare is concerned with poverty and injustice everywhere, our mission is to serve individuals and families in the poorest communities in the world. Since our inception in 2008, UjimaCare has been a trusted vehicle for Americans to share their compassion and generosity with those who have no safety net.
UjimaCare is committed to doing more than meeting immediate needs. We strive to address the structural barriers to overcoming poverty, such as patterns of discrimination and exclusion; corrupt or incompetent public institutions; lack of access to essential public services; conflict and social disorder; and major public health threats. While these can certainly be found to varying degrees in any wealthy nation, the scale doesn’t compare to poor nations. Therefore, UjimaCare believes we have the greatest potential for impact in developing countries.
